09.01.26 - Winter
The children were very excited to return to school after the Christmas break to a very frosty and icy garden. They explored the ice, collected the ice and even tried to make their own ice by leaving our water to freeze over night.
The children created icy collages and used the words hail, ice, frost, freezing, snow when talking about their creations.
We talked about how the trees had changed since Autumn and learnt about the words evergreen and deciduous. The children did some really careful observational drawings of trees in the forest school area. Everyone tried to include the different parts of the tree in their drawing: roots, trunk, bark, branches, leaves.
