In Science, we have been learning about materials. We have classified classroom objects according the materials they are made from. We have collected data of the different types of materials objects from the classroom are made from. We predicted the most common materials would be plastic, and we were right! To help us describe the properties of materials we collected adjectives from the board book series, 'That's not my'. We then matched the adjectives to the different materials; glass, plastic, metal, wood, rubber and paper. Finally, we planned and conducted an investigation to find the most protective and comfortable material for Humpty Dumpty to wear, should he fall off the wall again! We found cardboard to be the most protective and cotton wool the most comfortable.
Our Trip to Lynton
After half term we enjoyed a fantastic trip to Lynton. We had a great time exploring the Toy Museum, we saw so many different toys including some we still play with today. To support our learning in DT about bridges, we enjoyed a ride on the cliff railway and spotted lots of bridges. In the town hall, we talked about our own toy we had brought with us and had some time to play together with our toys.
