Barum Spring Term 2024

19.1.24

This week in English we interviewed Augustus the tiger and practised re-telling the story about his adventures. We wrote expanded noun phrases about different animals Augustus may have met on his travels, we then learnt how to use superlatives in our writing and the conjunction 'but' to extend our sentences and add more information.

In Maths, we ordered and compared the mass of objects using the language ‘lighter than’ and heavier than’ and measured mass using grams and kilograms.

In Geography, we having been re-capping the four seasons; we have learnt which months fall into each season and what type of weather to expect in each season.

In Art, we practiced sketching leaves for our Jungle paintings.

What a great start to the week! On Monday we had a Victorian Day with Past Presents, the children looked fantastic dressed up as victorian children. The children experienced different jobs that victorian children would have had to do such as, chimney sweeping, pick pocketing, shoe shining, doing the laundry, ironing and grooming the horses. After working the children had a chance to play with the victorian toys and finally we went to a victorian school.
