Barum Autumn Term 2024

This week in Forest School we had fun completing a challenge. Our challenge was to build a shelter for a mini-figure that had an opening for the figure to go in and out and that would be waterproof. We could only use natural materials which we had to find in the Forest School area. When all the shelters were complete we tested them all to see if our mini-figure was still dry.
This week in Art we have enjoyed creating collage portraits inspired by 'Picasso'. We also practised our blending skills using pastels to colour Autumn leaves. In Science, we used our observational skills to match up adult animals to their offspring and then classified them according to whether the offspring look like their adults or not.
14.10.24 This week in Forest School we learnt about the ‘fire triangle, which is the three things needed to make a fire; fuel, air and heat. We talked about being safe when making a fire and what is needed to put the fire out, we learnt that removing one part of the fire triangle will extinguish the fire. We then practised making a spark using a flint.
25.10.24  This week in Art we finished our final pieces of artwork, a Pablo Picasso style portrait! We used oil pastels to create a bold background and observational drawing skills to sketch our facial features from our photographs.

On Tuesday we had our last Forest School session until after Christmas. Natalie made a fire, we roasted marshmallows and had some hot chocolate.
